AFCON 2021 impressive Super eagles fly past Sudan into the knockout stage


After much ranting from the Sudanese side, the super eagles finally shuts the Sudanese team in their Saturday night encounter.

The game began with show of strength from both sides as Samuel Chukweze in the 3rd minute puts Nigeria on top courtesy of an assist from Moses Simon.

Taiwo Awoniyi soon doubled Nigeria's lead after heading home to give Nigeria the needed advantage.

The super eagles got the triple as impressive Moses Simon got his goal to seal Nigeria's win.


However the Sudanese falcons got their consolation goal as Nigeria Aina fouled a player in the yard box and Walieldin Khedr made no mistake from the penalty spot in the 70th minute to register their first goal of the tournament.

Match stats

Nigeria team recorded 17 shots with 8 shots on target while the Sudanese side got 5 shots with two being on target.


The super eagles completely dominated the game getting more ball possession, passes and pass accuracy than their opponents.

The win makes it Nigeria's second win over the Sudanese side.

Nigeria and Sudan have met a total of three times, their first meeting was in 1963 ending in a 4-0 victory in favor of the Sudanese.

However the second meeting ended in favor of the Super eagles as they won 1-0.

The win makes the giants of Africa sit comfortably on top of their group and has also proceeded to the knockout stages with a game to spare.
