Manchester city defeats Chelsea to tighten grip on premier league trophy


Covid affected man city defeats the European giants to go run further away in their title race.

This match which is a title decider match and also a  chance for Chelsea and Liverpool to show their commitment to the title race.

However, City were more dominant giving no room for Chelsea to produce any dangerous attacks.

After much dhow of strength from both teams, Ace kelvin De Bruyne got his goal for Manchester City by going past Ngolo Kante, before making a wonderful shot from the 20 yard box that went past kepa making a beautiful winner for his side.


Although, City could have been ahead in the 40th minute with Jack Grealish making his 3rd premier league goal but the €100m man was prevented after he made a shot directly at the  rushing Kepa in the 40th minute.

Chelsea made a mark in the first half with thorough defending from Thomas Tuchel side but got no shot on target in the opening half.

The European champions quickly gained momentum as they made three shots in four minutes of the second half including Lukaku´s shot that was well saved by City's goalkeeper Enderson.



However, City's goalkeeper Enderson made a clean sheet in the game recording  50% clean sheets in his premier league games this season.


however Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel said that Chelsea deserved a draw.

"Yes, the result is disappointing, but that is to be expected when playing at City." We defended admirably and didn't give up many huge chances, thus I believe we earned a point. "There was one in the first half due to a major blunder on our part," he told BT Sport.


"It went well in terms of performance. In terms of commitment, I'm pleased with the result, especially given the fact that our back three had to be replaced. A draw would have been a fair outcome for us, but we don't have it. That's the way it is, we've won games like this against City.


Man of the match

De Bruyne made no mistake, spunning past Ngolo Kante before firing a shot to register Manchester City victory over Chelsea.

De Bruyne who also hold the record for man city top assist is no doubt a world class player with Thomas Tuchel adding that the individual quality of the striker made the difference.

However its no doubt that city have raised a standard with others struggling to follow as they go 13 points clear in the title race, with coach Pep Guardiola eyeing his fourth title win in five seasons.

Manchester City face Southampton next Saturday while Chelsea go away to Brighton on Tuesday night.
