AFCON 2021; Terenga lions defeat Pharaohs to clinch first ever AFCON trophy.

Terenga lions of Senegal went above all odds to clinch their first ever AFCON title after two hours of wonderful show of tactics against record winners, Pharaohs of Egypt.

The lions roared against Egypt on Sunday February 6th following 120 minutes of no goal which leveled down to penalties in which the Terenga lions won 4-2.

Senegal Sadio Mane earlier missed a penalty in the opening five minutes of the game with goalkeeper Abou Gabal making a beautiful save.

However, the miss did not discourage the Senegalese as they fought harder, getting 75% ball possession, with the "great dam" Abou Gabal making wonderful saves to the frustration of the lions.

More wonderful play-making from the two sides, but none was turned into a goal.

After 120 minutes of no goal scored, the penalty shootout made the difference with two misses from the Pharaohs of Egypt which eventually granted Senegal the victory.

The win gives the Terenga lions their first ever AFCON trophy after three unsuccessful final attempts.

The AFCON champions are expected to face the Egyptians later on March 24 for world cup playoffs with Egyptian Ace Mohammed Salah threatening revenge.
