world football governing body FIFA has announced that the forthcoming club world cup to be played February this year will feature the use of artificial referees.

Premier league side Chelsea will be the first ever English team to make use of the innovative  piece in their upcoming club world cup semis.

FIFA have announced that the new piece will be used in the club world cup finals after a successful testing in the Arab cup.

________________________________________________________________________The new technology is believed to have the ability to make offside decisions in half a second.

A limb tracking system will be created using special cameras that will create animated skeletons which will help speed up offside decision makings.


The special cameras will also be attached to the roof of stadiums creating as bird eye view of the pitch.

After the offside decisions have been made within half a second, the VAR officials will then be informed for confirmation.

Holzmuller, FIFA director of football technology and innovation, however revealed that there is still need for lots of testing before the robo refs can become a mainstay.

"we strongly believe that this new data source can impact the game positively by optimizing the decision making process". Holzmuller added.

The sci‒fi referees has since been gaining momentum with experts acknowledging that the robots will help to speed up decision making process in respect to offside calls.

According to FIFA the new robot referees will provide new views for coaches and other backroom staffs.
