Jota impressive double gives Liverpool the win at Anfield.

Premier league table second place holders Liverpool defeated Leicester City two nil to keep their title hopes alive.

The red were very impressive as they cruised past Leicester city in a scintillating encounter.

Leicester city soon had their nightmare in the 34th minute as Diego Jota scored s nice goal from close range after a rebound of Virgil Van Dijk header that was parried out by Kasper Schmeichel.


Liverpool controlled the game, making problems for Leicester on the right flank. Liverpool soon sealed the win in the 87th minute as Diego Jota fired home a Joel Matip header to put the Reds nine points closer to leaders Manchester City with a game at hand.

Liverpool played without key player Sadio Mane who had just returned from the African Cup Of Nations in Cameroon.

Sadio Mane was left out, following his late arrival in Liverpool camp after winning the AFCON with Senegal.


Mohammed Salah was later  brought up in the second half, making wonderful impact including s shot that hit the woodwork, and more goal attempts that were well saved by Schmeichel.

Diego Jota got the night with his wonderful brace to give Liverpool the much needed victory.

Diego jota brace makes it 17 goals scored for Liverpool  in all competitions this season, his highest so far since playing in the Premier league.


Up next, Liverpool visits Burnley on Sunday at 2pm, while Leicester host West ham united same day at 4.30pm
