Southampton stuns Spurs in glorious comeback

Impressive Southampton had their best performance of the season when they took on Tottenham united in a thrilling  Wednesday encounter.

Southampton seemed to be heading for defeat as Heung Min Son  scored a thriller well assisted by a lucas Moura cross.

There was a controversial moment as Southampton striker Broja was injured following a harsh ariel tackle.

Spurs were two goals up as Jan Bednarek put the ball into his own net.

However the saints fought back in the 79th minutes as Elyounoussi put in a brilliant header courtesy of James Ward Prowse assist.

The saints got a late winner as Che Adams scored a screamer from impressive james ward prowse cross to silence the tottenham fans.

However spurs improved their play in the remaining seconds of the game as substitute Steven Bergwin scored a leveller which was well ruled out for offside.

The new result put Southampton in mid table position, while blurring out Tottenham top four hopes. A win for spurs would have been enough to put them above Arsenal, but Spurs are now left with a vacuum to cover.

Reacting to the loss Spurs  boss Antonio Conte expressed disappointment stating that his team made so many mistakes, especially with the ball.

"This kind of situations create mental instability in the team". Conte added.

Up next  for Southampton is a match against struggling Manchester united at Old Trafford on Saturday, while Spurs face Wolves on Sunday.
