Manchester City defeat Brentford, stays 12 points clear above rivals Liverpool.


When playing against league leaders, one should know what to expect. That was the case as Manchester city defeated Brentford to move 12 points clear off rivals Liverpool.

Brentford made remarkable defensive feats for large part of the game but finally went on to gift City a two goal win.

City win takes Brentford  to fifth successive loss, and only six points away from relegation zone.

City showed utmost dominance towards the end of the first half as Phil Foden header went wide.


City soon found the needed advantage as Rosrslev brought down Reham Sterling, as Riyad Mahrez soon converted from the spot in cool fashion.

Cancelo put forth an impressive performance as he stole the hearts of the fans, sending a wonderful shot.

There was a pure defensive blunder  as Raya carelessly kicked the ball straight to Sterling who sent an instant shot but the goalkeeper save was not enough as Kelvin De Bruyne scored the rebound to seal city victory.

De Bruyne has now been directly involved in 85 goals a total of 35 goals and 50 assists in 96 games played at the Etihad Stadium, scoring five goals in his last four games.


Reacting to the victory, City boss Pep Guardiola stated his satisfaction towards their impressive win.

"I am very satisfied with the win", he added.

Up next, Brentford play host to Crystal Palace on Saturday at 3pm, while Manchester city face Norwich same day at 530pm
